Why crossovers are the best thing since sliced bread

Crossovers are awesome. They are the true fruit of fanfiction (after OTPs of course). For those of you who aren’t aware, crossovers are when you take two different fandoms and mash their worlds together, coming up with a combined universe with elements of both fandoms. Now crossovers can come in many shapes and sizes. They can come in references:
Or they can come from a comment on a picture:

Or they can be a complete mash-up of two fandoms, creating a completely new universe that makes you want to kidnap a writer to write this just so you get it out of your damn head-
Or just write it yourself (which is honestly sometimes half the fun):
The best part is that no crossover is the same. Every single one is different, because every person creating them is different. I enjoy every crossover I find, and I love writing them even more. I can’t describe how much fun it is to take two completely different worlds and find a way to make them fit together, not just so it sounds plausible (because there is nothing worse than a complete and utter OOC fanfic) but so the essence of both worlds can be reflected in your piece, but at the same time grow from the original worlds. They can be anything from funny to sad, somber to joyful.
And then there’s the just plain racey:
But let’s be honest, there’s always one fandom you just can’t help but look up in the M-rated section. It’s just so much better that way.

In Remembrance (Scandal edition)

Today we remember a true Patriot, a great man, and a damn good Gladiator. Harrison Wright, from the moment he stepped onto the scene, captured the fandoms attention. One could say he solely existed off his charm, looks, taste, and shoes. Unfortunately, his charm couldn’t save him from Daddy Pope (why did Liv leave and trust him? Why? Why?!). As we all managed to figure out after last night’s first episode of the season, Harrison is dead. Like dead dead. Not like Liv’s mom (who easily wins fandom’s worst mother after Cersei Lannister and Petunia Dursley), who is currently back in inside her hole, where Daddy Pope put her. Harrison’s dead, and we all have to accept it. Even though he’s the first Gladiator we met, even though he helped shaped us all into badass Gladiators, even though he’s the only one who managed to figure out how big and bad Daddy Pope actually is before he got tapped. In the head!
Sorry.
Harrison was a great part of Olivia Pope and Associates. Except for the fact there is no Pope and Associates right now, because Liv got played by Daddy Pope, and was on a deserted island with the ever-so-delicious, much-better-than-Fitz, Jake Ballard.
Damn.
Wait, what was I saying? Oh right, Harrison. He was good, he was great, and he can’t be replaced.
Now if you’ll excuse me I need to go change shirts.
Again.
(And on another note: goddamn it ABC! You just got me hooked to another TV show. If you like Scandal, never watch How to get away with Murder, or you will never stop watching. You have been warned.)

The Ultimate Choice

When people ask me what I like, I often pause, not because I don’t have anything I like, but the entire opposite. I simply like too damn much. I have the unfortunate ability to follow, love, and obsess over a nearly unlimited number of books, movies (which we can all agree are almost never better than the books), TV shows, and anime. It doesn’t matter how hard I try, I always ends with me giving up my precious sleep just to read some more fanfiction. I hate it, and I love it, because every fandom I find, every little jewel I discover, I can’t help but love. So when people ask me what I like, choosing one thing just seems like sacrilege to me. How can I choose between this TV show or this book? (Except in the case of Twilight. Sorry Twihards, Twilight gets beat by everything. Except maybe Justin Bieber. Maybe.) They all hold the same amount of love and obsession for me, but I can’t tell them everything (because then we’d never leave.) So I simply say I’m a woman of many interests. Which I suppose is true, in a way, but not nearly as accurate as a the truth. I am a fangirl, pure and simple, and I will never stop being one. I mean I can’t, literately, just look at number six.
